Children & Young People Services

Counselling offers children and young people a space to share their thoughts and feelings in a safe environment through talking and/or play therapies. Working in a creative and therepeutic way can help them to share any worries or problems they may have and build their confidence and self esteem. Sometimes children and young people don’t want the stigma of being seen in a school setting; therefore I can offer an alternative option of accessing the counselling from my ‘mobile well being camper’ and additionally online counselling is also available. I also have an enhanced DBS Check.

Children & Young People Counselling (Ages 5-18)

My “mobile counselling & wellbeing hub” offers an alternative setting for children & young people that don’t wish to be seen in a school setting.  There is the option of visiting the camper in the playground and/or after school sessions near the beach.  I am offering alternative creative therapies for children and young people with sensory impairments (including selective mutism,) incorporating play and sand therapies, relaxation and visualisations, and guided meditations. I would like to work collaboratively with parents/care givers, where appropriate, to give them a greater understanding and insight into how to develop different approaches to support their child's needs.

Children In Care & Care Experienced Young People

I can offer support to children in care and care experienced young people who may wish to reconnect with significant adults in their lives who they may have lost contact with during their care journey.  This can provide them with a positive lifelong support network during their childhood and as they transition into adult hood, preventing feelings of loneliness and mental ill-health, whilst providing stability and connectedness.

Young People Mentoring & Support (Age 16 - 25)

I can offer tailor made mentoring sessions to meet the individual needs of each young person, helping them with practical support and guidance, applying for work, training or education, exploring their opportunities to help them meet their goals and achieve their aspirations. I will offer a combination of role modelling, advising, life skills training and coaching to build a supportive and healthy relationship. These sessions can be in various locations of the young person’s choice.  My mobile counselling and wellbeing hub gives the flexibility of meeting face to face alongside the beach, a mindfulness stroll and/or to meet in the relaxed environment of the camper with a hot drink.  Additionally, I can meet in schools and colleges, as well as providing online, phone and text support.

Benefits of mentoring for young people:

  • Long lasting relationships with positive role models and peers

  • Healthier relationships and lifestyle choices

  • Better attitude towards school and college

  • Higher educational aspirations

  • Enhanced self-esteem and self-confidence

  • Improved behaviour, both at home and at school

  • Improved interpersonal skills

  • Lower chances of drug and alcohol use

“Thank you for helping me find my family. I felt I had no one in my life since leaving care and you helped me think back to all the important people in my life and we made contact with them together. I couldn’t have done it without you and now I have a big group of people around me so that I don’t feel so alone.”
